Accepting an invite
What to do with an invite link, and what to do if it no longer works.
When a vault owner invites you, they’ll send you a link that starts with console.dotvault.net/invite. That link is your way in, so treat it like a key and don’t post it anywhere public.
Joining
- Open the link. You’ll see the name of the vault and the role you’ve been given.
- Choose Join with GitHub or Join with Google. This is the account you’ll sign in with from now on.
- Approve the request on the provider’s page.
That’s it. You’re signed in and the console opens on Today. Next time, just go to console.dotvault.net and pick the same provider.
Once you’re in, you can link a second way to sign in from your account page.
If the link doesn’t work
An invite works once and lasts seven days. You’ll see a message saying the invite can’t be used if:
- it has already been used, by you or anyone else who had the link,
- the owner withdrew it by removing you before you joined, or
- more than seven days have passed.
Ask the owner for a fresh one. If the account you chose already signs in to .vault as someone else, the invite is refused too: pick a different account, or sign in with that one instead.
