Short answers to the questions people ask most about .vault.
Getting in
Can I sign up for .vault?
Not on your own. .vault is invite-only: a vault owner invites the people who work with them, and new sellers join by arrangement. If you’d like to run your shop on .vault, email contact@dotvault.net.
I signed in and got a page saying to ask for an invite. What happened?
The GitHub or Google account you used isn’t linked to anyone in a vault. Try the other provider, or a different account, if you might have joined with that one. Otherwise ask your vault’s owner for an invite.
Do I need a GitHub account?
No. You can sign in with Google instead. It’s a good idea to link both from your account page, so one going missing doesn’t lock you out. See Signing in.
How long do I stay signed in?
Seven days on each browser. After that you’ll be asked to sign in again.
My invite link says it can’t be used.
Invites work once and last seven days, and an owner can withdraw one. Ask for a fresh link. See Accepting an invite.
eBay
Do I need to connect eBay?
No. The console works with no channel connected: your inventory and sales history are in your ledger either way. Connecting eBay from Settings, then Integrations, is on its way. See Channels and eBay.
Will .vault change my eBay listings?
Not today. .vault reads from eBay and tells you what to do, and you make the changes in Seller Hub. See Channels and eBay.
Can buyers pay on my shop page?
No. Your shop page has no cart or checkout. Every button goes to the listing on eBay, and buyers pay there.
Why is a price on my shop page different from eBay?
eBay is always right. Your shop catches up after a listing changes, so for a short while it can show the old price. If it stays wrong, email help@dotvault.net.
Working in the console
Why is part of the console greyed out?
It hasn’t been brought to the cloud console yet. Hover over or tap it and a note says so. It lights up when it arrives.
Why was my Save refused?
Usually because someone else changed one of the same records after you started. Reload, look at the record again, and redo your change if it still makes sense. See Making changes.
Can I undo a Save?
Not with a button. Make another change that puts things back, and Save that. Both changes stay in the history, which is the point: the record shows what actually happened.
Does .vault work on my phone?
Yes. The console fits a phone screen, with the main areas in a tab bar at the bottom.
Claude
Can Claude change things without me?
No. Claude drafts changes into your Inbox, and an owner or staff member saves them. See Using Claude with your vault.
Can Claude see my buyers?
No. Buyer details and private notes are removed before Claude sees anything.
Your data
Is my data backed up?
Yes, every day, and every backup is test-restored before it’s kept. See Your data.
Can other sellers see my vault?
No. Each vault is kept in its own database, and only the people in it can sign in to it.
